Dynamic Dave earns Championship glory

DAVE Chidzoy won West Bay Angling Club’s Chesil Champ-ionship after bagging nine wrasse and six rockling.
Chidzoy, who fished from Burton reef, also won the superpool of £435 for top weight in the competition which saw 115 anglers take part.
A bright, sunny but chilly day greeted the competitors with a rising tide and plenty of plaice and dabs were caught on the clean ground to ragworm baits.
The heaviest flatfish pool was £112, which went to Dave Lane and the heaviest round fish pool, also £112, went to Chris Clarke.
The boundaries for the event were from East Pier at West Bay to the flagpole at West Bexington.
A club spokesman said: “Thanks to all the competitors and to Freshwater Caravan Park for use of their facilities and hall for the presentation.”

Six flatfish were caught in the hour of daylight but after dark there were just a few small bites with no fish caught.
Plenty of plaice are being landed by members during daylight using ragworm.

Seventeen members fished and a few early wrasse were caught in the hour before sunset.
A few dogfish and bullhuss were landed and in total seven different species were weighed in, including a flounder for Frances Kitchin.
Ragworm tipped with mackerel proved a good all round bait.
