IN a week when the weather threatened to seriously disrupt the planned Lyme Regis Golf Club programme it was satisfying that only one day was lost due to wind and rain.

The first event of the week was the Macmillan Spoon in aid of cancer relief.

Despite cold, windy and showery conditions there were 35 entries from the ladies’ section and £101.50 was raised for the cancer charity.

The winner, who receives a commemorative spoon from Macmillan was Susan Moore with 35 points.

In second place, with 34 points, was Chris Wakeling with Hanna Jacobson close behind (33 points).

With the wet and windy conditions continuing, 12 members of the junior section took to the course to compete in a stableford event.

In first place, with an outstanding 41 points, was George Yorke.

In second, with an equally impressive 39 points, was Lewis Cottam, pictured left. In third, continuing his return to form, was David Lyon with 38 points.

There was a welcome improvement in the weather, which was accompanied by some outstanding scores in the April Stableford.

Playing off scratch with a four- under gross, was Roger Seed with 40 points.

However, he was pipped at the post by Merv Knight (13), who achieved 41 points.

In third was Willy Whitelaw (14) with 40 points.

In Division Two, Dilly Taylor (16) took the honours, on countback, with 38 points over Steve Thirwell (23), followed by Jon Cullimore (16) with 35 points.
