BRIDPORT Reserves were dealt another blow last night as their Dorset Senior Trophy quarter-final tie away to Shaftesbury Reserves fell foul of the weather.
Boss Mike Savage was informed at 4pm that the playing surface had been deemed unplayable following persistent rain throughout yesterday.
The tie has provisionally been rescheduled for this Wednesday (7.30pm), which would force the postponement of the home league fixture against Sturminster Marshall the previous day.
And Savage said: “I was really disappointed that the cup match didn’t go ahead and it means our fixture pile-up is going to get worse.
“I want to win this competition but not playing has a knock-on effect, which we’ve seen with our game in the previous round being called off so many times.”
Meanwhile, the reserves face arguably their toughest Dorset Premier League assignment on Saturday when they travel to unbeaten table-toppers Hamworthy Recreation (2pm).
Owing to pitch problems, Hamworthy have been granted special dispensation to switch their home matches to Corfe Mullen Rec.
