ANGLER Robbie Hall took a superb victory in the Daw Trophy at the East Pier in West Bay.

Hall’s haul of 1kg 522g gave him a 30g winning margin over Aaron Chambers, while Eden Lynham took third.

Four junior members of the West Bay Sea Angling Club and one guest angler fished the annual Peggy and Frank Daw Memorial Trophy.

The competition was attended by their son Tiny Daw who has fished since he was a youngster. The weather was cloudy with sunny spells and a southerly nine-mph wind.

The sea was clear so mackerel were caught but the majority of fish caught were very small whiting. In all eight different species were caught including whiting, bass, shanny, pollock, pout, sea scorpion, wrasse and mackerel.

Results: Robbie Hall 1kg 522g (255 g sizable), Aaron Chambers 1kg 492g (115g sizable), Eden Lynham 1kg 170g

Sponsors, The Daw Family, would like to thank all the juniors and parents who turned out to support their late parents’ memorial match and a big thank you to Malvin Chambers for running the match.
