BRIDPORT assistant-manager Paddy Behan says his side will ‘just go and have a go’ at Wellington as they face the Tangerines at home in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday (3pm).

Bridport memorably reached the third qualifying round last season, falling 2-1 to National League South side St Albans.

Behan said: “We know they are a good decent side, we had two decent games against them last season so we have got to be confident at home as well. We will just approach it the same way we would any game, just go and have a go at them.”

Andy Martin and Dan Peach return for Bridport but Matt Condliffe is still waiting on an eye injury and James Regan is unavailable.

The match is Bridport’s first at home, having played all pre-season games away with St Mary’s Field’s pitch currently being prepared.

“We have not been at home (during pre-season) due to the management preparing the pitch and obviously the dry weather does not help.”

However, Behan is encouraged by the look of the pitch.

He said: “It certainly looked a lot better than anything we have played on in pre-season and certainly Saturday’s game as well

Bridport trained on the pitch on Tuesday night but Behan added: “It will be good to get back to the ground really.”

Wellington are in the same league as Bridport and Behan is grateful for the familiarity.

Behan said: “From our perspective, playing in the FA Cup you do not know who you are playing against sometimes or what their strengths and weaknesses but they have lost a couple of players, three I think they have lost to Bridgwater.

“We know a little bit about them but we have got to be confident.”

Reflecting on their 2-0 win at Chipping Sodbury at the weekend, Behan said: “We were a bit rusty, we have had a really disrupted pre-season with injuries and it is not easy playing all of your pre-season friendlies away from home. You get people who cannot make the game so I think it will probably take four or five games to get back into our stride and the way we normally play. But we will be fine, we know we have lost Leigh Bailey and Ed Butcher but we had a pretty strong squad anyway and we have Chris McGrath full time now.”
