STEVE Crabb took home the men’s July Medal at Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club with an excellent nett 67, beating off competition from 45 other entrants.

There were 14 non-finishers, but runner-up Marc Harwood avoided that tag with a nett 68.

Crabb’s 74 was also the lowest gross. He opened his score with a double bogey but things looked up after that and he carded 12 pars and two birdies.

Meanwhile, the top three in Division Two all came in with nett 71s and, after countback, Russell Weller was declared the winner.

Dave Boggis won Division Three with a nett 69 giving him a five-shot cushion over his nearest rival.

Veterans’ Section

MEMBERS took the field to compete for the George Adams Cup, a medal off full handicap.

Forty-two players turned out on another blisteringly hot morning and the man who enjoyed the heat was Richard Fox.

With a score of 87-20=67 he won by an impressive margin earning him the silverware and a one-shot handicap cut. Five shots behind in Division One was runner-up Dave Howat on count-back, while Karl Rogers was the top man in Division Two with 93-22=71.

Ladies’ Section

SALLY Woolmington emerged victorious with 41 points as the ladies played for the President’s Shield.

In glorious sunshine, 26 members competed and many good scores were returned.

Liz Thompson was runner-up with 39 points and each player reduced their handicap by two strokes.

Following the event, club president Mike Thompson joined the ladies for a cream tea before he presented the trophy and prizes.
