CLAYESMORE SCHOOL 133-6 beat COLFOX 105 by 28 runs

COLFOX Academy under-13s narrowly lost to Clayesmore School in the Dorset Cup final at Delph Woods.

The team have had a fantastic season beating all opposition and travelled full of confidence even if they knew they were taking on a school ranked in the top 100 for cricket performance in England.

After winning the toss, Clayesmore decided to bat first and got off to a great start, and after six overs were on 60 runs.

However, Clayesmore got off to a great start, and after six overs were already on 60 runs.

However, in the seventh over, Isaac Arundel trapped their opening batsman lbw.

Some excellent bowling by Frankie Hodge (2-8) and Noah Tattershall kept the scoring down.

At the end of the innings, Tegan Furner came on for two overs and took two more wickets to restrict Clayesmore to 132.

The dramatic turnaround meant Colfox had only conceded 72 runs in the last 15 overs.

Going out to bat, the innings started badly when opener Marcus Daubeney had to retire hurt due to injury in the first over.

Furner took up the mantle and anchored the Colfox reply and started playing some beautiful shots to all parts of the ground.

Colfox appeared to be cruising to victory and actually brought up the 100 runs in the 12th over for the loss of only two wickets.

However, following the run out of Adam Moss, the lower middle order and tail succumbed to the increasingly more confident Clayesmore bowling.

Once Furner, who had played magnificently for 45 runs was bowled by a really good ball, the rest of the wickets soon followed and Colfox were eventually all out for 105.
