BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker expressed his disappointment at being left in the dark over Ed Butcher’s potential move to Street.

Butcher, along with defender Leigh Bailey, was approached by the Cobblers but is waiting to speak to the promoted side, who will play in the Southern League Division West next season.

Butcher’s situation differs to Bailey’s, as the centre-back will line-up for the Somerset side while signing dual registration forms for the Bees, who returned to pre-season training this week.

Fricker admitted the final decision rested with Butcher, but was dismayed at a lack of contact from the forward.

He told the Bridport News: “He said he was going to be having a conversation with Street.

“The ball is in his court and we’re just cracking on with pre-season – we went back and he wasn’t there.

“It’s slightly disappointing from my perspective. I would have expected him to keep us in the loop but we didn’t get a message.

“I can only assume he’s made the decision to go to Street but he’s not fed that back to us.”

Commenting on the Bees’ return to pre-season training, Fricker was delighted with his squad’s condition.

He said: “Massive credit to the lads. We asked them to come back with a good level of fitness and they did.

“We got the balls out and they were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t get them running for an hour. It’s good to get a little bit of rustiness out of the way.”
