BEAMINSTER captain Ross Baker admits his side face pressure as they travel to Stalbridge Seconds, who are currently bottom of the table after accruing six losses and just 24 points all season in County Division Two.

Baker’s men are looking forward to playing again after his side saw their match on Saturday scratched when Cranborne could not raise enough players, handing Beaminster 20 points.

Beaminster, meanwhile, are fourth in the table, with four wins and two losses so far this season and are 19 points behind league leaders Wimborne & Colehill Seconds.

Baker said: “We are looking forward to playing again, there will be a bit of pressure on us to try and get a victory there because Stalbridge have struggled a little bit. That does not mean to say that we are going to take them lightly. We need to go there and be quite professional and do our job properly and get a win.

“It is important that we get a win against one of the sides near to the bottom.”

Beaminster welcome Simon Jones back as well as Dave Persey who returns from university, and Baker said his side are at “pretty much full strength”.

Baker said: “We are quite pleased with the side that we have got out so there is no reason why we cannot go there and do well.

“I am fairly confident, we are determined to put pressure on those sides at the top of the table.”

In their last match on the road Beaminster suffered a tough defeat to Charlton Down, being bowled out for 123.

Charlton Down then stormed to 126-1 restricting Beaminster to taking away just one point from the encounter.

Baker acknowledged a need to focus on away victories.

He said:”We are sitting just below the top teams at the moment but if we can keep picking up the odd away victory and maintain our home form, we will be in a good position. We need to really focus on getting a few away victories to keep pressure on those top teams.”

Beaminster (provisional): Park, Baker, Jones, Hawkins, Runyard, Keenan, Gurd, Medley, Lucas, Merley, Persey.
