ALAN Hill was king of the castle at Lyme Regis Golf Club’s midweek stableford as his 39 points included two scores of four points on a hole as he went on a birdie blitz.

The midweek stableford saw a scramble of points as the top three, all single figure handicaps, bettered par.

Roger Seed and Matthew Watson both jostled for position on 38 points with Seed taking silver with a better count-back score.

In the Dorset County Club Stableford Division One, steady top-10 finisher Roger Turner found himself on the leaderboard in pole position with 38 points, watching as other scores came and went.

His lofted position owed much to scoring well on some of the tricky holes, especially the birdie on the 14th hole.

In the end Turner was uncatchable, but Mark Lewis and Colin Beauchamp both finished a point behind on 37 with Lewis back nine giving him the edge in second place.

Division Two saw a very tight finish as Terry Peadon and Les Bounds both scored 36 points with Peadon taking top spot finishing very well on his back nine to score 21 points compared to Bounds, who just fell short with a back nine of 20 points, while Colin Baker took third place with 34 points.

The seniors held their well-attended annual dinner and presentation evening and it was good to see Lin Baker, now in his 81st consecutive year as a member of Lyme Regis golf club, there with his wife Daphne. An excellent turnout saw the prizes presented by club captain Lee Caddy.
