MORE than 200 primary students, from 10 schools, took part in the second round of the inter-school cross-country races held at Beaminster School.

An exciting girls’ Year Four, Five and Six race saw only one point difference between the top three teams.

St Catherine’s (37) came away winners ahead of Parrett & Axe and Bridport Primary School (both 38). The ‘B’ team cup, for the fastest second team, went to Parrett & Axe.

Meanwhile, the first three individuals were Rosa Tucker of Symondsbury, Anna Scarborough of Parrett & Axe and Beth Watts of St Catherine’s.

In the Year Four, Five and Six boys’ event St Catherine’s (44) took first place again, just ahead of Beaminster St Mary’s (45) with Symondsbury taking third place (54s).

The ‘B’ team cup was won by Bridport Primary School, with individual winners being Alex Cox of Symondsbury, Johnny Styrin of St Catherine’s and Bridport Primary School’s Kieran Coombs.

In the new Year Three and Two race, with mixed gender teams comprising four runners, Symondsbury were the winners with 33 points in total, just ahead of St Catherine’s (36) and followed by Beaminster St Mary’s (42).

Individual medals, for the boys, went to Symondsbury’s Henry O’Dwyer, Dante of Beaminster St Mary’s and Toby Matterface of St Catherine’s.

The first three girl individuals were Tilly-Lou Winters-O’Brien of St Catherine’s, Eloise Found of Symondsbury and Beaminster St Mary’s Olivia Peters.

Wrapping up the primary cross country season will be a relay format meeting, which is being held at the Sir John Colfox Academy on Tuesday, March 20.
