COLFOX junior boys have qualified for the final of the English Schools Cross Country Cup 2017.

The competition saw the best teams in the South West of England descend on Leweston School in Sherborne to fight it out for a place in the final.

Despite the difficult conditions last time, this year was vastly better although rain leading up to the event made some areas muddy and heavy underfoot.

The junior boys were involved in the third race late on and by this stage the ground had really churned up and was really challenging in many areas of the course.

The Colfox team saw Owen Pitcher finish in seventh with Oakley Winters O'Brien 11th, while Oliver Forsee ended the race in 12th, with Oliver Jones 27th, Bailey Huxter 42nd and Sam Devecsery 54th.

The dramatic result meant that Colfox finished third, pipping Millfield by four points and booked their place into the National Final for the first time in more than 25 years.

The Inter Boys were involved in the first race of the day and gave it everything they had.

The team finished eighth overall as Fin Cauldwell finished in 17th with Gus Johnson not far behind finishing 20th.

Following them were Zakjohn Ousley 31, Harry Burwood 34, Mannie Wellman 35 and Jake Childs 39, which meant the team finished eighth overall.
