BRIDPORT & West Dorset Golf Club's men competed for the Redifussion Trophy on Sunday, writes Peter Crwoter.

This tournament was a three-ball betterball contest, with the two best scores to count.

Taking home the silverware were Mike Savage (7), Robin Ormsby (19) and Mark McMaster (23) with a nett score of 138.

One shot behind them were Gavin Gay (8), Andy Webb (21) and Barry O’Mahony (8) scoring 139.

Coming in third with a score of 140 was the team of Dave Smith (11), Robert Smith (19) and Robert England (14).

Veterans' Section

THE competition on Thursday was a three-ball betterball tournament and 18 teams turned out on a bright and sunny morning.

The winning trio came in with a nett score of 57 and they were George Brown (11), Geoff Ball (21) and Keith Mundy (25).

The next two teams both came in with a nett 59 score and the runners-up after countback were Roy Gill (13),Malcolm Peach (20) and Leonard Green (27). Taking third place was the team of Tony Burt (13), Richard Parry (21) and Jim Clarke (26).

The following day the vets played the ladies in their annual October match and the men came out the victors 6-3.

Ladies’ Section

SATURDAY ladies played a Stableford in warm sunshine and winner was Carolyn McAllister who managed four pars in her round and scored 36 points, writes Di Neal.

Runner-up was Liz Thompson two points behind with 34.

Tuesday, saw the annual ladies' charity day, when the club invite members from other clubs to join them in raising money for the captain's charity.

This year the charity is Woofability.

The prizes are donated from many businesses in and around Bridport and the club are very grateful for their support.

The top spot this year went to captain Janie Dowling and two of her friends, Anne Franklin and Rosemary Perry, who scored 76 points.

They were closely followed by Ruth Donovan, Liz Thompson and their guest Val Parsons with 75

points.
