BRIDPORT club treasurer Stuart King has been recognised by the Dorset & Wilts RFU for his long service.
King has been treasurer for the Blues for a total of 28 years and was awarded the Wildash Bowden Salver as an acknowledgement of his achievements.
As well as keeping the club’s finances in extraordinary good shape, King, being typical of many volunteers of his generation, has also managed to find the time to take on other roles within the Bridport club.
King has served the club not only as a player since the early 1970s but also a two-year stint as club secretary before taking the treasurer’s role in 1989.
He has served the club continually since his playing days and is still one of the hardest working members of the club's committee.
The pewter salver is now engraved with his name and should ensure that his contribution is recognised when it is displayed in the Bridport Clubhouse.
