BRIDPORT Rugby Club held their annual Schools Tag Rugby Festival, with a total of 12 local schools taking part.

More than 100 girls and boys took part in mixed teams, battling it out on three pitches.

After very competitive group games, Greenford and St Catherine’s schools met in the final having both come through very tight semi-final contests.

In an outstanding closely fought final, where the score ebbed one way then the other, St Catherine’s eventually won by six tries to four.

Bridport mayor Ros Keyes, who presented the trophies, said what a pleasure it was to see so many children enjoying themselves playing a sporting activity.

A spokesperson for the event said: “All credit to the club’s young qualified referee, Louis Brown, for organising the event on behalf of the club and thanks to Morrisons supermarket for sponsoring the event.”
