MOSTERTON handler Anthony Honeyball recorded another winner to add to his impressive record this season, as eight-year-old Act Now romped to victory in a Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton.

Given an impressive ride by jockey Noel Fehily, the mare cruised home by a considerable 18 lengths ahead of second-placed Wishicould.

Act Now went off a fancied 11-4 favourite and the Mosterton yard were delighted to see her record their 21st victory of the campaign.

A post on the Dorset trainer’s official website said: “Act Now gained her first victory over hurdles in style at Plumpton on Monday, for owners Barrow Hill.

“Delve deep into the past and you will find a piece of form which made her a good thing.

“On her racecourse debut in a bumper at Newton Abbot in 2014 she finished a promising second to Dashing Oscar with Native River, no less, back in third place.

“He is now second favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup while we are fishing in more shallow waters!”

It added: “She was given a skilful ride by Noel Fehily who held on to her patiently before making a decisive move in the home straight.

“Act Now has always shapes like a stayer and finished full of running over a trip in excess of three miles.”

The winner scooped connections £3,249 in prize money.

Honeyball also saw Dragoon Guard finish second under the guidance of Harry Cobden during the same meeting.

The six-year-old was beaten by one-and-three-quarter lengths by 17-2 shot The Game Is A Foot.
