BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker feels he is learning all of the time after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Cullompton Rangers.

It was the Bees’ second friendly of pre-season where most players were given game time as the manager looks to mould his side.

Despite the loss, Fricker was more concerned with their performances on the pitch.

He explained: “It was a decent run-out. We knew it was going to be a hard game and we played well.

“We learnt a lot more about the lads that we have got.

“We’re tinkering a bit, trying a few players in different positions to find the scope of the squad.

“It’s all about the performances at this stage and getting everyone used to each other.”

Fricker saw two former Western Premier League players try out for the Bees on Tuesday and hopes to have them signed soon.

The only negative was the injury to Andy Martin, who had to come off in the defeat.

Newly announced Bridport captain, Ryan Hayter, did not feature having been taken off in Saturday’s win against Wincanton Town.

His hip injury is being monitored, and he won’t be rushed back into the fold.

Up next for the Bees is the visit of Alphington on Saturday (3pm) and the manager hopes he can start to shape his team.

“We’ve now seen everyone play,” he added. “Lee Bailey is available to play, but we need to concentrate on shaping the team with the side that could play the first game of the season.”
