SEATON Tennis Club’s Emma Hurst insisted it was an “amazing opportunity” to grace the grass courts at Wimbledon.

Hurst qualified for the Wimbledon 2016 British wildcard play-offs and got the chance to showcase her skills at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Despite Hurst losing to Laura Deigman 6-3 6-4, she believed it was a great achievement to reach a draw among some of the top British ladies competing on grass for a place in the main event at the major.

On returning to Seaton, Hurst, a university student, thanked the club members for all their ongoing support.

She said: “Obviously I was really disappointed to lose my match, but was pleased with how I played and it just came down for a few breaks in serve.

“It was an amazing opportunity to play on the grass courts at Wimbledon – something I have been aiming towards all year at Bath University.”
