BRIDPORT RES 5

PARLEY SPORTS 1

FIVE-STAR Bridport Reserves ended their Dorset Premier League campaign on a high note with an impressive 5-1 home win against Parley Sports on Saturday.

And Bees’ manager Shaun Annetts was happy to see three of his teenagers get their names on the scoresheet in the process.

Youngsters Tom Bearwish, Jake Rowland and Tom Hyde all got in on the act as Bridport produced a clinical display to sign off for the season. Also on the scoresheet for the home side was Tristan Gale and Simon Gale.

Assessing the youngsters’ display, Annetts told Echosport: “Their performance was outstanding in every respect.

“They defended well, were clinical in front of goal, creative, all the things you want as a coach.

“To get three of the goals from three 16-year-old lads, with what I have tried to do this year, was fantastic.

“It was a fantastic finish to what has been an interesting season with lots of ups and downs.

“We finished 12th which was nothing like I wanted back in August but it’s better than where we were at Christmas time.”

He added: “I’ve had to call on the youth set-up to help me and they have done that. Every single one of them this year has done exceptionally well.

“Without them we would not have fulfilled our fixtures, without a shadow of a doubt.”

The result means the Bees recorded 10 victories in the division this term, finishing on 37 points from their 32 league fixtures.
