BRIDPORT RESERVES 3

SOUTH CHERITON UNITED 1

BRIDPORT Reserves moved up to 14th in the Dorset Premier League table, after a vital victory over South Cheriton, in a game that had everything at South Cheriton Rec.

The Bees, who only had five league wins to their name in the league all season prior to kick off, took on a Cherries’ outfit who sat in the bottom two.

Despite Shaun Annetts’ side being vastly stretched for numbers on the afternoon, they ran out 3-1 winners to leapfrog Wareham Rangers in the league standings, who lost at home to Swanage on Saturday.

Bridport’s goals came through a brace for Simon Gale and one for Shaun Pearson, but the Bees were however, playing against nine men in the latter stages of the contest.

South Cheriton’s Joe Vine was given his marching orders for two bookable offences and substitute Ryan Trevett, who had come on in place of Matt Cottrell, was shown a straight red.

Netting what proved to be a consolation for the home side was Paul Ward.

The Bees, who host Weymouth Reserves at St Mary’s Field tomorrow (7.45pm), now have 24 points from as many games played.

  • Balti Sports' scheduled league game at Holt United on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
