COLFOX’S junior girls’ and boys’ cross country teams are celebrating again after being crowned county champions for the second successive year.

Some 27 schools took part in the Dorset Schools Cross-Country Championships at Kings Park in Bournemouth, with huge numbers of runners in each race.

Colfox’s Year Seven boys went into the championships in confident mood after winning the area title.

In the end they finished as runners-up behind Allenbourn, a result the team were more than happy with.

Fin Cauldwell was the standout Colfox athlete in fourth place, while Mannie Wellman was 14th.

Having also been crowned area champions, the strong junior girls’ squad were buoyant as they took to the start line. And they kept up their impressive form, coming out on top ahead well clear of runners-up Parkstone.

Olivia Willmore was the highest-placed Colfox runner in ninth, with Maddy Herbert and Hannah Bowell also making the top 20.

The junior boys, who like the girls had won the title in 2015, performed well in the area championships but didn’t really know how strong they were.

They turned out to be very strong, with the team seeing off Poole Grammar for something of an unexpected victory.

Manny Cox was the top Colfox athlete in seventh and Frankie Chant was 14th.

Another strong inter-boys' squad were hopeful of doing well but in the end had to settle for second behind Bournemouth Collegiate School. Jed Holt was first home for Colfox in seventh, while Tom Crabtree and Dan Elliott were not far behind.
