A GROUP of eight Bridport Barracudas attended the West Dorset Christmas Meet held at Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre in Dorchester.

There were 13 swimming clubs taking part from across the county.

The group achieved 20 personal bests between them and some of the swimmers gained county and regional qualifying times.

Henry Wyrill had an outstanding day, which saw him finish first in every race he entered and he was awarded the trophy for best boy swimmer of the day.

Harry Stewart took second in the 50m breaststroke and third in the 100m breaststroke and was also fifth in the 50m and 100m freestyle.

Kirron Wheeler took second in the 50m fly, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

Wyrill also set five club records, Stewart claimed three, while Wheeler collected two.

Chloe Burns claimed four personal best times, with Charlotte Hussey achieving three and Izzy King and Ben Fry bagging one each.

Coach Dan Dew said that the swimmers had all been working hard in training and that the results spoke for themselves.
