BRIDPORT 2

BITTON 0

BITTON had no answer in a bid to stop the Bees’ impressive form, as Trevor Senior’s side extended their run of wins to four on the spin.

The victory, which puts Bridport up to ninth in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division table, was fairly comfortable for the hosts throughout at St Mary’s Field with Mark Salter and Matt Condliffe both on target.

With the wind at their backs in the opening period, Bridport made a blistering start.

A ball forward by Ryan Hayter caused problems in the Bitton backline and allowed Salter, who gambled on a mistake from the visitors, to slide in and poke the ball home against his former club.

Salter continued to cause problems and he could have had a few more to his name before the interval as the Bees dominated.

Chris Clarke hit a 25-yard stinger that was well saved and Tom Richardson almost headed in a free-kick from Condliffe but saw his effort come off the base of a post.

While Senior admitted his side were disappointed not to have increased their lead by the break, it did not take them too much longer to double their advantage in the second half.

Around five minutes into the second period, a slick five-man move allowed Condliffe to smash home into the far corner and effectively put the game to bed.

Bitton did push for a reply but the Bees stood firm to record their eighth league victory of the campaign.

“We were excellent,” Senior told Echosport.

“I felt our passing and moving was really good to watch in difficult conditions.

“The lads are enjoying it as well, you can tell there is a smile one everybody’s face. They are confident are passing the ball around and that’s four wins on the bounce now.”

The result means that Bridport keep up their maximum point haul this month, a feat their manager is extremely happy about.

“December looked daunting,” Senior added.

“So far we have got three-quarters of the job done and we’ve managed to get nine points out of three games so far.

“The lads look strong, have confidence in each other, everyone wants the ball, and there is a nice feel about the place.

“From the beginning of the season I said I felt we were stronger this year and I think we're now proving it.”
