SEATON Tennis Club’s Emma Hurst has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Master’U BNP Paribas tournament.

The event, which takes place in Rennes, France and runs from today until Sunday, features the best university student players in the world.

The 19-year-old Sport and Exercise Science student and 2014/15 Trendell Sports Scholar at Bath University features in a team of three women and three men who will lock horns with tennis aces from the USA, Russia, China, Germany, France, Belgium and Ireland.

Barry Scollo, director of tennis at Team Bath Tennis Academy and captain of the British team in France, said: “It is fantastic that Emma has been selected from such a strong field of players.

“She is the third University of Bath student to be picked for this event, following on from Steph Cornish and Alex Walker, and it is great to see our players continue to progress on to the international stage.”

Seaton Tennis Club’s Belinda Bawden added: “We are all very proud at Seaton Tennis Club of what Emma has achieved in her tennis and warmly congratulate her for being called up to play in the GB team.”

Hurst is joined in the British team by Olivia Nicholls, Olivia Smith, Mark Whitehouse, Bruce Strachen and Adam Glynn.
