TREVOR Senior is well aware of the threat Willand Rovers will pose when they visit St Mary’s Field on Saturday for a last-16 clash against Bridport in the Les Phillips Cup (3pm).

Bees’ supremo Senior has even labelled Willand as “the best side we’ve played in the league this season” ahead of the second-round tie.

But at the same time, Senior is hoping that home advantage can help Bridport’s chances of reaching the quarter-finals.

The sides are only separated by one point in the Toolstation Western League Premier Divis-ion going into the contest, though Willand have six games in hand over their hosts.

However, the Bees, who had lost their last two fixtures and not scored for three matches, gave themselves a confidence boost on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw at home to Cadbury Heath.

“It was good to get a result on Tuesday to take into Saturday because the Les Phillips Cup is our last chance of silverware,” said Senior.

“Scoring also helped our confidence after three games without a goal, and it was a relief when Jamie Symes found the back of the net.

“I think Willand Rovers are the best side we’ve played in the league this season, they are very creative from set plays and have got some dangerous players.

“They went 3-0 up against us in the first half when we played them at home earlier in the season. But we did get a couple of goals back and had an effort cleared off the line before they broke away and got a fourth.

“It’s going to be difficult on Saturday but hopefully home advantage will help us.”

Warren Byerley will be back after missing Tuesday’s clash, though Tom Richardson tweaked his groin warming up and is doubtful. Meanwhile, keeper Sam Filkins has agreed a move to Gillingham Town and leaves the club with Senior’s full backing.

Symes ended the Bees’ goal drought against the Heathens, scoring from a 76th-minute corner to put the hosts ahead.

However, the hosts couldn’t hold on and Cadbury Heath forced a draw when Chris Senior unfortunately turned the ball into his own net near the end.

Bees: Weeks, Condliffe, Morley (Gale 82), Hill, Senior, Ry Hayter, J Filkins (Clarke 64), Wise, Evans, Rh Hayter (Symes 64), Stewart. Subs not used: Richardson, S Filkins
