THE Thursday competition was the second round of the Winter Shield Stableford.

Conditions were pretty good for golf and perhaps it was surprising that only one of the 53 starters carded a score of 40 points.

Division Two’s Tony Williams came in with the highest score of the morning, his 40 points earning him a two-shot handicap cut.

Topping Division One was the man enjoying a real purple patch at the moment, Peter Marshall, with 38, one better than runner-up Marcus Beresford.

RESULT

Division One: 1 Peter Marshall (9) 38 points, 2 Marcus Beresford (15) 37, 3 (acb) Jimmy Gbadebo (12) 35, 4 Mike Brake (19) 35.

Division Two: 1 Tony Williams (28) 40 points, 2 Dave Rendell (20) 37, 3 Trevor Foster (25) 34, 4 (acb) Dave Smith (21) 33.

Beresford and Rendell received a one-shot handicap cut.

The ladies' Chicken Chase competition was postponed until next week due to bad weather.
