BLANDFORD 3 BRIDPORT 7

DESCRIBED as their best performance to date, Bridport beat Blandford 7-3 in the two games played.

Having initially gone two tries down, Bridport’s defence did not take long to shore things up and helped turn over a fine performance and result.

An eye-catching defensive display by Abi Alner rewarded her with the player-of-the-match award but, in truth, there were several contenders on the day.

Barney Johnson notably chipped in with three storming tries and Charles Edwards got no less than six over the two games.

Other try scorers were Charlie Brake (2), Alner (2), and Dom Burdett.

BLANDFORD FORUM 3 BRIDPORT 7

A SPIRITED comeback after a sloppy start saw Bridport record their second consecutive victory when they beat Blandford 7-3.

Having gone a try down in the opening minutes, three quick-fire tries by George Found saw the away side take a commanding half-time lead.

Similar to the start of the game, the home side scored early on and seemingly awakened a sleeping beast. An immediate reply by Bridport coincided with great work by scrum half Araminta Smith who supplied Toby Gale, Archie Smith and James Clatworthy to put breathing space between the two teams.

Oliver Hansford responded to a further Blandford try by putting the final touches on great work by George Found to secure a resolute victory.

BLANDFORD 12 BRIDPORT 126

BRIDPORT ran out comfortable winners when they travelled to Blandford in what was their first game in almost a month.

Having had their last two fixtures cancelled, the young Blues showed no signs of rustiness and put Blandford to the sword in their first of two games.

The first seven tries were remarkably scored by backs, with good work from the forwards in penetrating and narrowing the defence of their opponents. Things didn’t get much better for the hosts and they were again vulnerable as the second game started.

Finlay Shoemark capped his man-of-the-match performance with four tries. Toby Every (3) Oliver Wills (4) Lewis Ali (2) Liam Woodward, Charlie Talyor, Reuben Jolliffe, Ned Seal and Callum Fowler also got on the scoresheet.

DORCHESTER 62 BRIDPORT 5

DORCHESTER proved too strong for Bridport who were outclassed by a ruthless first half performance.

It was a comprehensive 47-0 at the interval and a second half comeback looked nothing short of a miracle.

Team spirit and determination kept the score at a admirable level and, whilst a well worked Josh Craven try for Bridport did little to effect the outcome of the match, it was a huge psychological boost.

It is the performance, not the score-line, which will give the team enthusiasm going into their upcoming fixtures.
