BRIDPORT embark on a key period of the season for the club this Saturday when they play the first of four games in succession against sides currently above them in the league.

The Bees, ninth in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division before last night’s fixtures, take on Slimbridge, Melksham Town, Buckland Athletic and Odd Down (Bath) over the next couple of weekends.

How they do in those matches is likely to say a lot about where Trevor Senior’s charges could end up in the final standings come April.

They go to Gloucestershire outfit Slimbridge this Saturday (3pm) to face a side that has not lost at home in the league this term, and who are just two points off top spot in fifth.

“We are in a decent position in the league,” said Bees’ boss Senior. “Providing all the games before Christmas are on, we will see if we are going to be in the shake up in the top six.

“We’ve got a lot of the top teams coming up so we will really be able to see where we are in this league.

“If we can come through these games with some positive results then we might be there or thereabouts.”

Matt Condliffe is unavailable for the clash, as is Sean Stewart through suspension, but Chris Clarke is back in the mix.

Ryan Dovell came off with a knee injury in the defeat to Highworth last Saturday, though there is a good chance he will be fit to feature against Slimbridge.
