TREVOR Senior has sung the praises of Matt Morley after a succession of eye-catching performances in recent weeks.

Morley has come off the bench in Bridport’s last three games and had an impact in all of them, including setting up Chris Luke’s winner against Cadbury Heath.

The versatile ex-Weymouth man will be hoping his form is good enough for a place in the starting line-up this Saturday when the Bees host Bitton (3.07pm).

“Matt has been left out a few times but instead of sulking he has taken it on the chin and worked hard to get back in,” said Senior.

“When he has come on he has made an impact. He set up the winning goal last Saturday and had a hand in the goals on Tuesday.

“If you’ve got pace it can make a hell of a difference and he has got it in abundance.

“He is learning all the time and I think he’s had a great season.

“He has played in 20-plus games for us in his first season at the club and has been a big part of the squad.

“He has said he is happy to stay with us next season and most of the lads have said the same.”

Ryan Dovell is a major doubt for Saturday’s clash after suffering a hamstring strain during the 4-2 defeat at Odd Down (Bath) on Tuesday.

Defender Darren Watts (knee) is also a concern for Bridport boss Senior, though Sean Stewart returns and Chris Senior should be available.

Goals from Tom Richardson, his fourth in three games, and Matt Condliffe couldn’t pre- vent the Bees losing at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground in Bath.

Defensive errors proved costly for Senior’s men as they saw their run of four away matches without defeat come to an end.

“We had the best of the early stages in each half but we didn’t capitalise on the chances we created,” added Senior.

“They punished us to go 2-0 ahead but it would have been a different story if we had scored just after half-time.

“They deserved the win but it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we had scored when it was 2-0.”

They had gone into the fixture on a high after last Saturday’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Cad-bury Heath.

Two Richardson goals and a Watts header saw them recover from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at St Mary’s Field.

The visitors levelled following a straight red card for Condliffe, but Luke struck in the last minute of normal time to seal a dramatic triumph.

n All of Saturday’s Toolstation Western League games will kick-off at 3.07pm following a minute’s silence to mark the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy.
