Bridport boss Trevor Senior will be looking to take his side’s winning momentum into their game against Cadbury Heath, after the Bees produced a dominant display to overcome Brislington at St Mary’s Field on Tuesday.

Visitors Brislington, who had won their last four games in the league prior to kick off, were shell-shocked thanks to second-half strikes from Bridport’s Tom Richardson and Darren Watts.

“I’m very happy, we were much better and we deserved the win,” said the Bridport manager.

“We were looking for a res-ponse after Saturday’s defeat, and we got it, and that was what I was most proud of.

“I’m really pleased with the clean sheet as well. They didn’t really have any chances in the first half and only had one good opportunity throughout the whole game.

“We made a few changes, looked solid all round and thoroughly deserved the three points.”

In a goalless first half, a notable highlight was when Dan Wise saw the visiting goalkeeper off his line and struck an audacious free-kick, which cannoned off the crossbar from 40 yards out.

Ten minutes into the second period, Wise then turned pro-vider as he whipped in a corner from the left and Richardson was on hand to slot the ball home at the back post.

The hosts then doubled their lead 15 minutes from time when a well-worked move from another Wise corner found Darren Watts, whose side-foot finish found the back of the net to give Senior’s men all three points.

The only negative of the evening was striker Ryan Dov-ell’s early exit, after he suffered a knock to his knee in the first half and remains touch and go for this weekend’s clash.

On his side’s next fixture, Senior added: “Cadbury Heath are a team that we can catch in the league, so it’s a bit of a six-pointer.

“We drew up at their place and they scored in the last few minutes, we should have won the game really but we know we are in for a tough game on Satur-day.”

The Bees will be without Chris Senior and will also be missing Sean Stewart for the next two weeks, but welcome back Max Buckler to the squad.
