BRIDPORT will attempt to make it four successive away games unbeaten on Saturday at Melksham Town (3pm), with boss Trevor Senior stating “we owe them one”.

That signal of intent comes a month after the Bees were thrashed 6-2 by the Wiltshire outfit in front of their own supporters at St Mary’s Field.

Since then, Bridport have gone three matches without defeat, all of which have come away from home in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division.

A victory over Hengrove and draws against Bishop Sutton and Hallen has seen Bridport steady the ship following five defeats in the previous six.

Senior welcomes back striker Ryan Dovell for the trip to Melksham, while Max Buckler and Chris Senior should be available.

Sean Stewart impressed during the 0-0 draw at Hallen last time out and will be involved again this weekend.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Senior said: “We owe them one. That 6-2 defeat was our biggest at home for a long time.

“Their finishing was better than ours on the day, though I was left thinking ‘how did we lose that 6-2?’.

“We beat them in the cup and they beat us in the league so this is the third match between us this season.

“Melksham is the fourth of four successive away games for us, and we could have had nine points out of nine so far.

“We should have beaten Bishop Sutton and Hallen. We had the lion’s share of possession and chances and should have won.

“But I would have taken three unbeaten away from home.”

Senior was delighted to come away from Hallen with a point for the first time as a manager, although it should really have been all three.

“It was the first time as a manager of either Bridgwater or Bridport that I’ve got something at Hallen,” added Senior.

“It was a really good all-round team performance for the 90 minutes and that’s as good as we’ve played this season. It was our first clean sheet for a long time and that’s three away games without defeat, but we couldn’t quite get that all-important goal.

“We created a number of chances in the second half and really should have taken all three points.”

Tom Richardson, Shane Evans, Jamie Filkins and Michael Hailu all went close for the Bees, but they had to settle for a point in the end.

Bees: S Filkins, Morley (Hailu 70), Condliffe, Evans, Watts (Rh Hayter 84), Ry Hayter, Luke, Wise, Rich-ardson, Stewart, J Filkins. Sub not used: Senior.
