HALLEN 0 BRIDPORT 0

TREVOR Senior was thrilled to come away with a point from Hallen for the first time as a manager – but he knows it should have been all three.

The Bees’ boss felt his side dominated the game with a performance he labelled as their most complete of the season so far.

He also gave a special mention to midfielder Sean Stewart, who made his first start for Bridport and took his chance to impress with aplomb.

“It’s the first time as a manager of either Bridgwater or Bridport that I’ve got some- thing at Hallen,” said Senior, who was with- out striker Ryan Dovell due to work commitments.

“I was really pleased even though we drew. It was a really good all-round team performance for the 90 minutes and that’s as good as we’ve played this season.

“We’ve deserved three points in both games against them this season but ended up with two.

“It was our first clean sheet for a long time and that’s three away games without defeat, but we couldn’t quite get that all-important goal. We were the better side in both halves.

We created a number of chances in the second half and really should have taken all three points.”

He added: “Sean Stewart came in for his first start and played the holding role in the centre of midfield.

“He has been doing well in the reserves and I was really pleased with him on Saturday.

“Sean has got a bit of a reputation for being physical but he showed what he can do.”

Tom Richardson had the visitors’ best chance before the break when he looped a shot on to the roof of the net from a Dan Wise cross.

With Sam Filkins in the Bridport goal rarely troubled, the Bees enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, and that continued into the second half.

Shane Evans had an effort parried by the home keeper who got back to clear the ball off the line and, in the same passage of play, Jamie Filkins had a header hacked away.

With Matt Morley, Matt Condliffe and substitute Michael Hailu all prospering on the flanks it seemed only a matter of time before Bridport would go in front.

And they nearly did six minutes from the end when Hailu met a Wise centre with a full-length diving header that took a coat of paint off the outside of a post.
