COLFOX enjoyed great success at this year’s Dorset Schools Cross Country Championships.

The Bridport outfit took three full teams to the event, which included a total of 46 runners, all of which did their school proud.

The Year Seven Girls were quietly confident of doing well after enjoying an unbeaten season in the West Dorset Area League.

Despite missing their second strongest runner, four of the girls finished in the top 20 to win the team event by just two points.

This was a fantastic achievement and a special mention goes to Rosie Hart, who saved her best performance of the season for the most important race.

The Year Seven Boys also triumphed with Manny Cox being crowned a county champion after dominating the race from start to finish.

Cox’s sensational effort was well-supported by his team-mates, who also ran brilliantly.

Finally, the Junior Boys continued their excellent year by finishing second to a very good Bournemouth School.

Colfox sports teacher Andy David said: “We also had a few individuals that did really well.

“Sydney March finished tenth in the junior girls and Wendy Robertshaw fifth.

“Both made it into the county team.

“It has been a great season and I would especially like to thank Eddie Colfox from Watton Hill Trust for allowing us to use their course, and Bellrock, formerly SGP, for sponsoring out kit.”
