Jurassic League Final

NATHAN McMaster has been crowned the Jurassic League champion for 2013.

The last West Bay Angling Club's junior match of the year and final of the junior’s Jurassic League took place in rather unpleasant weather with rough seas and strong winds.

Most anglers chose to fish from the shelter of the black hut on the East Pier at West Bay.

The league is fished over four matches in November and December but due to a cancellation, only three matches took place this year.

The fishing has been very poor this autumn with very little caught, so the league was wide open to anyone who did well on the last day. After the second match, McMaster was in the lead, but with only 96g, which was not a strong position.

As it turned out, only four fish were caught by four competitors, which meant that McMaster held on to his lead and became overall winner of the league.

Meanwhile, ten juniors fished on the day with 15 in total taking part in the league.

The winner of the last match was won by the club’s youngest member, Lucas Voss, aged four, with a five-bearded rockling.

This year had a ‘witches and wizards’ theme so after the match, everyone returned to the Salthouse where a buffet was kindly laid on, courtesy of the Punch and Judy Bakery, and the best dressed junior was judged by the club’s new president, Dave Cornick.

The winner this year was Imogen Harwood with Eden Lynham in second and Aaron Chambers, third.
