BRIDPORT RES 9

HAMWORTHY UNITED RES 2

BRIDPORT Reserves hit nine for the second time this season at St Mary’s Field with Jack Scovell bagging four against a forlorn Hamworthy side.

There were also braces for Gary Bulman and Tristan Gale while substitute Ryan Gall added his name to the scoresheet late on.

The huge win took Robin Townsend’s Bees up to sixth place in the Dorset Premier League, three points behind Mere Town in fifth.

Scovell opened the scoring on 11 minutes and Bulman doubled the lead soon after with a fine solo effort.

And the victory was sealed before half-time with further strikes from Scovell, Bulman and a first of the afternoon for Gale.

The potent Scovell completed his hat-trick at the start of the second half before Gale grabbed his second.

Bradley Miles got the visitors on the scoresheet to make it 7-1 with five minutes left and, in a crazy finish to the match, Gall got Bridport’s eighth, Scovell added a ninth and Scott Logan netted another Hamworthy consol- ation.

“We are a good side when things are going our way and we were very good on Saturday,” said Townsend. “We moved the ball around superbly and scored some great goals.

“The only thing that took the gloss off the performance was the two goals we conceded, but I’m nit-picking a bit because I was really pleased with the way we played.

“We dominated from the start and Sean Stewart, who was playing at centre-half again, was the man of the match.

“He looked so comfortable back there while Ben Clarke up front and Gary Bulman, in the middle of the park, were excellent too.

“A special mention goes to Jack Scovell who scored four goals, and they were four great goals.

“Ryan Gall came up from the third team and young Rhys Hayter came on as well, and it’s good to be able to give these lads the chance of playing at a higher level.”

He added: “We’ve let ourselves down a bit in games this season on the mental side of things but we probably won’t play much better than we did on Saturday.

“I keep telling the lads that when we are on our game we are a match for anyone in this league and that’s starting to get through to them.”

The Bees are home again on Saturday when they host basement boys Sherborne Town Reserves.
