5:00am Thursday 24th October 2013 in Sport
AFTER having their first three fixtures cancelled for various reasons, Axminster got off to a good start with a 67-39 shot win at home to Dunkeswell, with wins on all rinks.
John Hill, Pam Clark, Ann Clayton and Jean Kesterton won 22-7, Morrison Brown, Der-ek Pheby, Brenda Raistrick and Sheila Martin triumphed 22-14, while Phil White, Margaret Brown, Dav-id Harris, and Brian Clark bagged a 23-18 victory.

Axminster then faced Plymouth in the first County Over-60s’ match of the season but lost 87-67 in what was a fairly tight match with the score rather flattering he opposition.
The best effort came from the away rink of John Packham, Eric Skeemer, Bob Sher-borne, and Charlie Barber who won 20-17.
The ladies started their season with a friendly triples match away to a very strong Madeira team and were beaten 62-39 with only Jo Barnish, Ali-son Glyde, and Mar-garet Crompton managing a win (17-13).
* The last of the outdoor finals, delayed owing to illness, have, at last, been played with Margaret Crompton and Marion Harris beating Margaret Brown and Joan Quick in the ladies’ four-wood drawn pairs and Phil White and John Chance defeating Mar-garet Crompton and John Hill in the three-wood drawn mixed pairs.
The club held their annual dinner and presentation evening at the Lyme Regis Golf Club when 40 members and friends enjoyed a splendid evening.
