SHOOTING: Bowditch gives fire to England victory
BEAMINSTER ace Lee Bowditch helped inspire England to victory in the Olympic Skeet Home International event in Scotland.
The experienced shooter has enjoyed a great time on the international front over the years and was delighted to see that success continue.
He said: “For me to represent England in the Olympic Skeet Team has been a great milestone in my life.
“Although I have not actually competed recently, I have never entirely left the shooting world as I have done the team photography and reports for these events.
“This year’s competition was held at the Morton Clay Targets Shooting Ground near Edinburgh and it gave me a warm feeling as a number of the shooters I have known for a very long time are still competing.
“I have a lot of respect for these individuals.
“Also, talking to some of the younger members of the England team, they said that they had never won an England team winners medal, so to boost their spirits I said that on the previous occasions that I had represented England we had always won this particular title.
“True to form, we won again this year, the result being England first, Ireland second, Scotland third, Wales fourth and Northern Ireland fifth.
“The High Gun winner was Rhys Price from Wales and England’s High Gun winner was Chris Pratt.
“The Captain’s High Gun Cup went to England’s David Dale.
“I would like to thank Bridport Banners for helping me achieve my dream of representing my country once again.”
