ON a very cold day just 10 men tur-ned out for the midweek Stableford, and hence there were only two prizes, writes Peter Crowter.
The runaway leader, in front by six points, was Tony Lovelace (22) with 40 points. Runner-up was Dave Howat (18) with 34 points. Lovelace received a two-shot handicap reduction.
THE Thursday competition was the Prostate Charity Day Stableford.
This is an annual event to raise money for the charity and the total money raised on this occasion was £670. It was a fine day and 57 players took the field in good conditions.
It was a successful day for two of the club’s VIPs with top honours going to last year’s club captain Peter Marshall with a fine score of 41 points.
Close behind, also in Division One, was this year’s club vice-captain Phil Dowell, runner-up with 40 points. Top scorer in Division Two was Dave Buckland with 39 points.
Division One: 1 Peter Marshall (10) - 41 points, 2 Phil Dowell (13) – 40, 3 (acb) Mike McGrady (14) – 36, 4 Dougie Howells (18) - 36. Division Two: 1 Dave Buckland (21) – 39, 2 Ian Campbell (28) – 35, 3 (acb) Dave Cotgrove (27) – 34, 4 Chris Roberts (21) – 34.
Marshall, Dowell and Buckland received a one-shot handicap cut.
