CHARD & District Swimming Club has been awarded the ASA Quality Mark of Swim 21 Accreditation for swimming skill development.
The club has worked steadily to gain a series of required ASA outcomes, all of which are deemed by the ASA to be essential for long-term athlete development.
The Swim 21 Accreditation recognises nationally and regionally that Chard is committed to providing a safe, effective and quality service to all members and is a planning tool to enable athletes, teachers, coaches and administrators to achieve their full potential.
Chard currently has around 140 members, aged five years to adult from Chard, Crewkerne and surrounding villages, East Devon and West Dorset.
Training sessions are held at Chard, Crew-kerne and Axminster and the Millfield School 50 metre pool.
Sessions begin with the Otters learn to swim group, and progress through to those swimming with county, regional and national qualifying times.
The club holds in-house galas, and attends Open Meets as well as the county, regional and national championships, and takes part in the Southern Junior League and National Swimming League.
New members are always welcome.
