THE Thursday competition was a Four-Ball-Better-Ball Stableford with two-man teams, writes Peter Crowter.

Snow prevented some players from escaping their villages and others thought the course was still closed so the field was reduced to 24 pairings.

The morning turned out to be cold but sunny and apart from the first fairway the course was surprisingly dry.

The scores reflected the benign conditions and six teams carded 40 points or more.

Peter Marshall (10) and Alan Jowett (18) came out on top and took the title with 43 points ahead of Keith Mundy (19) and Jeff Webster (27), who finished second with 42 points. Dougie Howells (18) and Derek Griggs (22) came third on count-back with 41 points.

Junior Section THE Junior AGM and presentation took place in the clubhouse.
