Lyme Regis: Resort life through eyes of youth on show at The Hub
10:30am Thursday 26th April 2012 in Lyme Regis
Young people’s life in Lyme Regis in their own words, sounds and images is on show at the Hub youth centre in Church Street from this Friday.
Hear Here is a collection of works capturing life in Lyme and the surrounding area as young people see and hear it.
Workshops have been running for eight weeks to prepare for the show which consists of an interactive installation and exhibition.
All ages are invited to come and have a go at making their own soundscapes and visual projections, view pictures, listen to stories of local people and share ideas.
At 8.30pm there will be a performance of soundscapes, songs and visual projections.
“This project has brought different individuals and groups of young people together as well as older members of the community, while exploring our culture, heritage and local identity in different mediums,” said organiser Fran Williams of the B Sharp music project.
“ It's been a creative journey; a short, small, action packed project with ideas flowing and ceaseless opportunities for young people to creatively express themselves.
“It is about our heritage and we can already see from this experience how our follow- on intergenerational project can be developed.”
Emma Franklin, B Sharp trainee music leader said: “Being given the role of a lead trainee has been fantastic, and I love the feeling of giving back to the project what it has given me over the years. The best thing about B Sharp is everyone’s shared enthusiasm and passion for music.”
Young freelance photographer Kai Taylor’s work is a big part of the project and his dynamic pictures of young people encapsulate life in Lyme through his eyes.
