Lyme Regis: Mum, Casey Pulman, given community order for possessing cannabis

A PREGNANT woman has been handed a community order after admitting possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Casey Pulman, 27, was a week overdue when she appeared at Dorchester Crown Court to be sentenced for the offence.

Prosecutor Jennie Rickman said the charges related to a police search at Pulman’s property in North Avenue, Lyme Regis, on November 1 last year.

She said there were a number of people at the flat and in the kitchen officers found around 292 grams of herbal cannabis.

Miss Rickman said: “The defendant was arrested and interviewed and admitted that the cannabis in the kitchen was hers.”

Jamie Porter, mitigating, said that Pulman – who also had a five-year-old child – had been faced with bailiffs demanding £1,000 and turned to selling drugs to raise some money to avoid being evicted from her flat.

Mr Porter added that Pulman had been a cannabis user from a young age but had never been a dealer before.

Judge Roger Jarvis sentenced her to a year’s community order with a supervision requirement.

He told Pulman: “My view is you are a woman with a great deal going for you – you have a five-year-old child who loves you dearly, you’re about to give birth to another child and plainly you are a very intelligent young woman.

“All of this you are going to put at risk if you continue to engage in the abuse of cannabis.”
