Lyme Regis: Councillors' CCTV hope for Marine Parade Shelters

11:00am Wednesday 15th February 2012

COUNCILLORS hope that CCTV will be speeded through for the Marine Parade Shelters in Lyme Regis.

Members of the Lyme Regis Town Council’s strategy and policy committee heard that a planning application to West Dorset District Council was necessary.

Town clerk Mike Lewis said that the cameras would not be able to go through as permitted development and needed a formal application.

But he added that the town council would be getting tenders in at the same time as lodging the application so it is ready to move after the application is considered.

Committee chairman Mark Gage said: “It is important that we run the tender in parallel.

“Eight weeks is the maximum time limit to determine an application.

“Let’s hope that the district council turn it around quicker.”

Coun Daryl Turner, who is also a district councillor, said that he hoped it would be decided by an officer under delegated powers rather than going to committee.
