A FORMER Lyme Regis school pupil is suggesting the town hosts the premiere of the Jurassic World 2 next year.

Twenty five-year-old Joseph Samuel Rogers, who has to two books to his name Running. Nothing. Something and A Spectrum Of Settlements, says Lyme is ideally placed to put on a red-carpet event and he is willing to be part of organising it.

Mr Rogers, who has vowed to never go to university, complete the UK driving test, join Facebook, get married or have children, said: "Lyme Regis is a beautiful English town on the south coast which, in approx 1811 became a worldwide phenomenon after the discovery of a fossilised Ichthyosaur on a nearby beach by local woman Mary Anning.

"Following a number of historical discoveries since and the growth in popularity of the coastline with tourists over the subsequent 100 years, the area surrounding Lyme Regis was aptly named the Jurassic Coast a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Dorset town lying in the centre of a stretch of coastline encompassing millions of years of geological history, including that of the Dinosaurs.

"In fact one could argue that in recent decades, the area has become profitable through tourism off of our reptilian predecessors much in the way of the fictional 'Jurassic Park'.

"Lyme Regis also has also a significant background in cinema, with the iconic Cobb in the harbour gaining much attention with the filming of The French Lieutenant's Woman based on the John Fowles novel.

"The glorious Langmoor Gardens, looking out over the stunning Lyme Bay, has hosted a number of events totalling capacities in the 1000s and has organised hugely popular 'outdoor cinema' events with a large screen erected and people electing to sit in the natural amphitheatre.

"It struck me how obviously the town lends itself to an event concerning the Jurassic Park film franchise and with another successful movie on the horizon, how fantastic it would be to tie the film's release in with the Jurassic history of Lyme Regis, the grandeur the town has had in years past, and the resonance the film industry has with its locals.

"With the film just over a year away, I believe such an event, to host the UK film premiere would be truly wonderful for those working on the movie, the local community and of course Jurassic Park fans worldwide."

Mr Rogers has written to Universal Pictures, Amblin Partners which is a film, television and digital content creation company linked with Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks, global entertainment company Legendary, as well as Lyme Regis Town Council and West Dorset District Council.

Mr Rogers' profile on LinkedIn describes him as assistant site manger and birthday party supervisor at Pecorama in Beer.
