IN 2015, Britney Spears’ ‘Piece of Me’ tour had an average ticket price of £94.

On May 28, 2016, Lyme Regis-based music making charity ‘B Sharp’ is offering people the chance to hear a vast selection of new local musicians perform, as well as the opportunity to take the stage, in its annual busking festival. The cost of entry? Absolutely nothing.

Taking place throughout Lyme Regis, the ‘B Sharp Busking Festival’ will showcase the talents of a number of local, young musicians.

These youngsters have developed their sounds with help from the charity’s weekly sessions led by a team of ‘music leaders’, who offer the highest level of experience as composers, musicians, singers, songwriters and technicians.

There will also be a wide variety of interactive elements provided for all, from singers just starting out to polished performers.

The festival offers the chance to join an electronic jam session, take part in a drum circle, or even go solo with a ‘Play Me’ drum kit and piano being placed around the town.

However, the heart of the festival is built upon the busking.

Hour-long busking slots can be booked on the ‘B Sharp’ website, enabling musicians to perform at one of many locations all across the town.

B Sharp director Fran Williams said: "These are open to all, no matter age, instrument or experience and represent an opportunity that should not be missed. If you’ve ever dreamed of a life in the lights, now may well be your time to shine.

"The B Sharp charity does incredible work in the Lyme Regis area, aiding the development and promotion of aspiring young musicians.

"We regularly organise events that provide these artists with the stage they deserve. For example, at last year’s immensely successful ‘Big Mix Festival’, where attendees were blown away not only by the professionalism of the event, but also the quality of the acts that performed."

For those who sign up to a busking slot, 60 per cent of profits can go straight in their pockets, with the remainder going towards funding the charity, helping it to carry on its work with young musicians locally.

Ms Williams added: "So, come on down for a day of sand, seas and songs. Maybe even treat yourself to a post-busk bacon butty, you did just save £94 on a Britney Spears ticket after all."
