A POPULAR duck race will take place on Easter Monday to support a Lyme Regis school.

The event, organised by the Woodroffe School PTA, will see a team from the Lyme Regis RNLI drop 1,000 individually numbered yellow plastic ducks into the River Lym at 12pm on Monday, March 28.

Lyme Regis town crier Alan Vian, will gather crowds in the centre of town, before leading the procession up to Higher Mill Flats, near Woodmead Bridge, where he will officially start the race.

Supporters can cheer on the ducks from the river bank until the finish further down the river at Jordan Flats.

Duck tickets will be available at the Woodroffe School the week before the Easter holiday. Additional prizes could be won from tickets purchased through the school.

Duck tickets will also be available in advance from the Pilot Boat and other shops around the town and on sale from 10am on the day and at the start line prior to the event.

Each numbered ticket buys the corresponding numbered yellow plastic duck in the race.

There will be a host of cash prizes for the first, second and third ducks over the finish line and a luxury Easter egg for the last duck that manages to negotiate the river course.
