POLICE are investigating a possible arson after a van caught on fire in west Dorset.

Officers were called to the incident involving a white Ford Tranist van in Charmouth at just before 6am on Saturday.

PC Richard Winward from Lyme Regis Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The Transit was set alight in Higher Sea lane, Charmouth at about 4am on Saturday January 30.

"Enquiries are continuing. If anyone has any information, I would be grateful to hear from them."

Dorset Police are continuing to investigate the cause and are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 5.5am on January 30 to  reports of a van on fire along Higher Sea Lane, Charmouth.

"We received a call from the fire service.

"Officers are investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be arson."
