A WEST Dorset charity will hold a concert next month to raise funding for its big summer event.

Lyme Regis based music charity, B Sharp, will hold the event at The Hub in support of the Big Mix Festival, which will take place in July.

Local bands including Papa Le Gal, Slinky Machine, Bishco and DJ Geester will perform at the venue on Saturday, February 13.

Big Mix co-organiser Pete Wild said: "We have found a great way of raising some of the funds we need to make this year's Big Mix happen.

"We will have another night of great music but in the winter, indoors, and in a great party venue."

The team behind the Big Mix Festival have come together with local bands and volunteers to raise money in advance of this year's event.

Ticket prices are deliberately kept low to encourage local music lovers and mixed audiences, particularly young people, to come and experience original talent from young musicians and emerging artists.

Grace Gillan, singer of Papa Le Gal, said: "It's always a delight and a pleasure to perform for The Big Mix - a brilliant local festival.

"Each year I'm impressed by the constant influx of new young artists, their original material and the great atmosphere."

Papa Le Gal band member and B Sharp music leader Jacques Verhaeren, said: "We can't wait for Papa to play in Lyme Regis again - the place of the band's birth.

"The good vibes we got from everyone in the area really gave us a platform to write some party tunes, and we will always be grateful for the following we have here.

"It will be nice to support so many good causes, mainly The Big Mix but also to raise awareness of B Sharp and The Hub as a great venue."

Organisers would like to thanks all the bands and helpers for volunteering their time to support the festival and are encouraging people to snap up tickets early.
