A TEENAGER has been praised for passing her driving test after being involved in a hit and run car crash near Lyme Regis.

Rhian Rose and her instructor Joel Wilkins were involved in the collision the day before her test, with the offender driving off without stopping.

Dorset Police are investigating the incident and no-one has been arrested.

Mr Wilkins said: "It happened the day before her test.

"She was a bit shaken up and distraught after the incident. Rhian had about three hours of practice in her new car before taking her test.

"She had recently bought her own car so we had to get her insurance and prepare her for the new vehicle.

"She managed to pass with just four minor faults. I'm really proud of her and I think she deserves a lot of credit for pulling through."

Dorset Police are investigating after two vehicles collided at the A35 Charmouth Roundabout at around 5pm on Thursday, October 15.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa was being driven towards Axminster when the other vehicle, thought to be a Land Rover 90 or 110, collided with the Corsa before driving off without stopping.

Damage was caused to the Corsa but no injuries were sustained.

Police Constable Sara Mackay, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact me on 101.

“I am also asking the driver of the Land Rover, involved in the collision, to come forward to help with our enquiries.”

Mr Wilkins has labelled the offender as 'impatient and arrogant' and is appealing for the public to help find the culprit.

He said: "He was going off towards Lyme Regis and was in the wrong lane.

"He clearly thought he could just pull out in front of us and pull back in, but he crashed into the front of the car and drove off.

"The driver was being impatient and arrogant. He definitely realised what had happened and I want to find the person responsible.

"As well as causing around £1,000 of damage to my car, it meant I suffered loss of income from not being able to work over the weekend."
