THE HEAD of the group that will decide the future of the NHS in the county will speak at a public meeting in Lyme Regis next week.

Dr Forbes Watson, from the Kent House Medical Centre, is chairman of the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). He will speak at the meeting at Woodmead Halls on Monday (21) at 7.30pm.

The CCG has been engaged in wide-ranging reviews and public consultations as it works towards the future delivery of healthcare in Dorset.

Proposals put forward by the CCG included an option to downgrade children's services at Dorset County Hospital to a paediatric assessment unit with inpatient services transferred to a hospital in the east of the county.

Consultation due to start in August has now been put back to next year as the CCG undertakes further work on the proposals.

Local area partnership LymeForward invited Dr Watson to speak at the session about the healthcare review and take part in a question and answer session.
